Liberia has been positioned on a brand new U.S. visa suspension record, becoming a member of a number of different international locations as the US strikes to tighten visa screening and vetting procedures.

In line with Fox Information, a U.S. State Division memo directs consular officers to refuse visas underneath current regulation whereas the division reassesses immigrant visa processing protocols.
Different international locations on the record embody Somalia, Russia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand and Yemen, amongst others.
The visa pause is about to start on January 21 and can proceed indefinitely till the reassessment of immigrant visa procedures is full.
Somalia has confronted heightened scrutiny from U.S. officers following a significant fraud scandal in Minnesota, the place prosecutors uncovered in depth abuse of taxpayer-funded profit packages involving many Somali nationals or Somali-Individuals.

Liberia’s inclusion on the suspension record comes as a shock, because the nation had not appeared on earlier lists. The federal government of Liberia had not issued a press release on the matter on the time of publication.
