    Trump and Japan’s New Prime Minister Commerce Compliments

    Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan welcomed President Trump to a gold-gilded palace in Tokyo on Tuesday. Whereas they traded niceties, there was little progress on commerce talks.

    “Mr. President, welcome again to Japan.” “You’ll be one of many nice prime ministers. … That’s an enormous deal.” “Shinzo Abe was an awesome pal of mine. … However he spoke so nicely of you.”
