    Legislative Caucus frowns at Western Cluster Liberia’s operations

Alex Tyler, Senator of Bomi County and Chairman of the Western Area Legislative Caucus, elevating critical issues in regards to the operations of Western Cluster Liberia Restricted (WCL).

    In his communication, Senator Tyler complains of gross violation of the Mineral Improvement Settlement (MDA) signed between the Authorities of Liberia and Western Cluster. 

    In response to him, the corporate has allegedly engaged in actions that not solely undermine the phrases of the Settlement, but additionally disregard the welfare of residents residing in affected counties, specifically, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, and Gbarpolu Counties, respectively.

    Following the studying of the communication, Senator Edwin M. Snowe Jr., additionally of Bomi County and a member of the Western Area Legislative Caucus, supplied a movement that the matter be turned over to the Senate Committees on Judiciary and Funding. 

    The movement,  which was overwhelmingly endorsed by members of the Senate, requires the related committees to conduct a complete investigation into the operations of Western Cluster Liberia, assess the extent of the corporate’s alleged violations, and report again to the plenary with findings and proposals in two weeks.

    The movement was unanimously accepted by plenary, thereby mandating the joint committee to start its investigative work immediately.
