    Gov’t to introduce anti-drug lessons in schools

    The Authorities of Liberia, by means of the Ministry of Schooling, has introduced plans to combine anti-drug training into the nationwide college curriculum.

    MONROVIA, August 8, 2025:  The initiative goals to deal with the alarming rise in drug abuse throughout the nation, following a nationwide anti-drug consciousness marketing campaign spearheaded by residents and authorities officers on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

    Talking throughout a press briefing on the Ministry of Data, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sanoe, reiterated President Joseph Boakai’s agency stance in opposition to drug abuse.

    In keeping with him, the President has instructed the Ministry of Schooling to incorporate Anti-Drug Classes in its curriculum, making it the tenth core topic to be taught in all faculties throughout Liberia.

    Explaining the President’s current stance on the battle in opposition to drug abuse, he said that the President has vowed to take decisive motion in opposition to property house owners who enable their premises for use for the sale or distribution of unlawful medicine.

    “The President has made it clear that anybody discovered aiding or abetting the sale of unlawful medicine or these whose properties are used for such actions might be held accountable and face prosecution together with the perpetrators,” he said.

    He urged property house owners throughout Liberia to chorus from permitting their properties or companies to function drug distribution factors.

    Minister Sanoe additionally disclosed that, as a part of the President’s anti-drug efforts, all zonal heads of drug enforcement businesses might be required to signal efficiency contracts.

    “These contracts will mandate zonal heads to report the variety of arrests made inside a particular interval. Failure to satisfy efficiency benchmarks will result in dismissal,” he defined.

    He emphasised that President Boakai’s dedication to tackling drug abuse just isn’t symbolic however strategic, and his administration intends to implement long-term options.

    Moreover, Sanoe highlighted the President’s name for stiffer penalties for drug sellers, stating that “the punishment for promoting or distributing medicine should outweigh the pleasure it brings.”

    Along with enforcement measures, the federal government can also be specializing in rehabilitation and reintegration. Plans are underway to determine a nationwide rehabilitation middle to deal with and empower drug customers.

    “We’ve noticed that many rehabilitated drug customers usually return to the ghettos. To stop this, the federal government will enroll them in vocational coaching applications to equip them with expertise that may assist them rebuild their lives,” Sanoe famous.
