The widows of hockey participant brothers Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau are talking out about their grief practically one 12 months after their husbands have been killed by an alleged drunk driver.
“He kissed all of us goodbye — simply within the driveway at his dad and mom’ home. And that was the final time I noticed him,” Johnny Gaudreau’s spouse, Meredith Gaudreau, instructed ABC Information.
Johnny Gaudreau, 31, a Columbus Blue Jackets star, and Matthew Gaudreau, 29, a former professional hockey participant, died on Aug. 29, 2024. The brothers, who have been dwelling in New Jersey for his or her sister Katie’s wedding ceremony, have been using bikes once they have been struck by a driver suspected of being inebriated, based on police. The suspected driver was arrested and has pleaded not responsible to prices of aggravated manslaughter, vehicular murder, proof tampering and leaving the scene of an accident.

“Our children did not deserve this,” Meredith stated. “John and Matty did not even deserve that, particularly the way in which it occurred. It retains me up at night time.”
“There is not any therapeutic if you did not get a goodbye,” Matthew Gaudreau’s spouse, Madeline Gaudreau, stated.
On the brothers’ funeral, Meredith stated she instructed her husband “that I’d care for our youngsters, and I thanked him for such an amazing life.”
On the time of the brothers’ deaths, Meredith was a mother to her and Johnny’s two younger kids.
Madeline and Meredith have been additionally each pregnant when their husbands died.
Madeline’s baby, Tripp, was born 4 months later and Meredith — who announced her pregnancy at the funeral — gave birth to baby Carter eight months after the crash.
Madeline stated that on the funeral “Tripp was kicking loads, so I simply held Matt’s hand on my stomach for Tripp.”
“I did not wanna say goodbye to both of them as a result of I do know I am going to see them once more at some point,” she stated.
