    Fuamah Residents Block Iron Ore Shipments

    Bong Mines, February 17, 2026: Tensions erupted in Fuamah District #7, Bong County, early Monday as residents blocked the cargo of iron ore from Bong Mines, accusing China Union Funding (Liberia) of failing to satisfy key social and financial commitments.

    The protest, which started round midnight, noticed neighborhood members bodily stopping vans from transporting minerals out of the concession space.

    The demonstration stems from allegations that China Union and its companions have did not honor a remedial compliance framework established following a Concession Compliance Overview. Regardless of assurances, residents say little tangible progress has been made towards addressing longstanding issues.

    China Union Funding (Liberia), Bong Mines Co. Ltd., Bangli Ltd., and HMR had beforehand acknowledged failing to satisfy obligations underneath the Mineral Growth Settlement and Liberia’s labor legal guidelines. The businesses requested a 45- to 60-day window to implement corrective measures, together with:

    Street rehabilitation between Bong Mines and Haindii (Gaygayma Waterside)

    Recruitment of native and redundant employees via a human sources agency

    Launch of cadetship and vocational coaching applications

    Administration assessments of Bong Mines Hospital and Zawetta Excessive College

    Rollout of neighborhood lighting initiatives

    Proposal for paving the Bong Mines–Haindii highway

    Calls for and Subsequent Steps

    Of their decision, neighborhood leaders demand a direct, detailed sixty-day efficiency report, outlining contracts executed, works initiated, recruitment processes, infrastructure interventions, dedicated funds, and timelines. The decision has been despatched to the Home of Representatives and the Joint Committee on Concession Compliance Overview.

    Residents insist that no iron ore will depart Bong Mines till firms present full compliance with agreed obligations. They stress that their protest just isn’t anti-investment, however a name for accountability, transparency, and honest benefit-sharing for these immediately affected by concession actions.

    As of press time, China Union had not issued an official response. The scenario in Bong Mines stays tense, with the blockade ongoing—a vital check of each company accountability and neighborhood belief.
