    Fahngon suspends ELBC coverage at MICAT

    MONROVIA: Data Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah has instructed Deputy Minister Daniel Sanoe to inform President Joseph Boakai concerning the resolution by Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) Director Common Eugene Fahngon to droop LBS’s reside protection of the Ministry of Data, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism’s (MICAT) common press briefings.

    On Wednesday, August 6, Fahngon introduced that, resulting from monetary constraints and lack of funding, LBS would halt protection of main authorities features, together with MICAT’s weekly press briefings. He, nevertheless, famous that there was room for negotiation with the MICAT administration.

    Responding to the announcement throughout Thursday’s common press briefing, Deputy Minister Sanoe criticized the choice, describing it as unilateral and never reflective of the views of the LBS Board or the Authorities of Liberia.

    He expressed shock that LBS, as a part of the federal government’s communication construction and with the data minister serving as chair of its board, would take such an motion with out session.

    In accordance with Sanoe, Minister Piah has directed him to formally inform the president concerning the matter.

    “We aren’t in a disagreement with Mr. Fago as a result of he’s a member of the federal government’s communication crew, and perhaps there’s some correction that must be made someplace. However ELBC is a authorities entity, and speaking with the Liberian individuals begins from MICAT,” Sanoe emphasised.

    He assured the general public that the matter could be resolved with the president’s intervention. He added that when the chairperson of the LBS Board returns to the nation over the weekend, the problem could be addressed.
