    Boakai suspends import Tariff on Rice

    Government Mansion, Monrovia, June 6 – President Joseph Boakai has issued an Government Order suspending import tariffs on rice.

    Capitol Hill, June 6, 2025: A launch from the Government Mansion says the transfer is to ease the financial burden on Liberians and stabilize the worth of rice.

    The Mansion in its launch mentioned, “Recognizing the mounting pressures of the excessive price of dwelling and the crucial significance of rice as Liberia’s staple meals, President Boakai’s newest Government Order continues the provisions of Government Order No. 125, eradicating import tariffs on key rice classes to make sure affordability and accessibility for each Liberian.

    Below this new directive, import tariffs are suspended on rice labeled below the next HS Codes:  • 1006.30.10.00 – Semi-milled or wholly milled rice, whether or not or not polished or glazed, in packings of greater than 5kg or bulk • 1006.40.00.00 – Damaged rice
