    At-Risk Youths Rise to One Million in Liberia

    Monrovia, January 9, 2026: The variety of at-risk youths concerned in drug abuse in Liberia has surged to a couple of million nationwide, based on the Liberia Drug Enforcement Company (LDEA).

    Talking on the launch of a nationwide anti-drug consciousness marketing campaign on Wednesday on the William V.S. Tubman Excessive Faculty in Monrovia, LDEA Officer-in-Cost, Fitzgerald Biago, revealed that latest research present a disturbing enhance in drug use amongst younger folks throughout the nation.

    Mr. Biago disclosed that over 500,000 at-risk youths are concentrated in Monrovia and its surrounding areas alone, underscoring the severity of the state of affairs within the capital.

    The marketing campaign was launched by a collaboration between the Heart for the Trade of Mental Opinion (CEIO) and the Liberia Drug Enforcement Company, geared toward curbing drug abuse amongst college students and younger folks.

    In line with the LDEA Officer-in-Cost, the company will regulate its operational technique this yr, with a major variety of officers being deployed to Liberia’s borders with Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, and Sierra Leone.     Mr. Biago appealed to college students to function ambassadors of the federal government by actively discouraging drug use and reporting suspicious actions inside their communities.     Referring to rehabilitation efforts, Mr. Biago disclosed that the LDEA is asking on the Liberian authorities to extend the variety of rehabilitation facilities nationwide, the place rehabilitated youths can purchase vocational and life expertise to reintegrate into society.

    Earlier, Mohamed Dukuly, Chairman of the Heart for the Trade of Mental Opinion, introduced that CEIO, in partnership with the LDEA, will set up Anti-Drug Marketing campaign Golf equipment in faculties throughout Liberia.

    Mr. Dukuly defined that the initiative will start in faculties inside Montserrado County, working alongside current faculty constructions, earlier than being expanded to different elements of the nation.
