    Liberia: President Boakai Lights Up Candle National Healing, Reconciliation, and Unity Candle

    Monrovia– As a part of ongoing efforts to foster peace, unity, and nationwide renewal Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, yesterday lit the Nationwide Therapeutic, Reconciliation, and Unity Candle on the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complicated in Congo City, Monrovia.

    The symbolic ceremony was a central characteristic of the Nationwide Therapeutic, Reconciliation, and Unity Program, a historic initiative geared toward honoring the reminiscence of victims of the Liberian Civil Struggle, the Ebola and COVID-19 pandemics, and different nationwide traumas. 

    It additionally serves as a name to motion for all Liberians to unite within the spirit of forgiveness, solidarity, and nationwide rebuilding.

    In his remarks, President Boakai described the lighting of the candle as “a solemn nationwide second—an emblem of our collective journey from ache to objective, from division to unity, and from grief to therapeutic.”

    “Right this moment, as we mild this candle,” the President acknowledged, “we ignite not solely a flame however a shared dedication to confront our previous truthfully, to honor these we’ve misplaced, and to construct a Liberia that’s extra simply, extra peaceable, and extra united.” He added. 

    The ceremony was attended by high-ranking authorities officers, conventional and non secular leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, survivors and victims’ households, civil society organizations, and odd residents from throughout the nation.

    The candle will stay lit as a nationwide image of remembrance and resolve, underscoring the Boakai Administration’s dedication to inclusive dialogue, truth-telling, transitional justice, and sustainable peace.

    The occasion marks a pivotal second in Liberia’s post-war historical past, reinforcing the Administration’s imaginative and prescient of a reconciled and cohesive nation, the place all residents—no matter ethnicity, faith, area, or political affiliation—can
