    Liberia: President Boakai Nominates Associate Justice Yamie Gbeisay as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

    Govt Mansion, Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has nominated Affiliate Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay to function Chief Justice of the Supreme Court docket of Liberia, pending affirmation by the Liberian Senate.

    Based on an Govt Mansion launch, the nomination is according to Article 54(c) of the 1986 Structure of Liberia, which grants the President the authority to nominate the Chief Justice, Affiliate Justices, and Judges of Subordinate Courts. It additionally aligns with Article 72(b), which mandates the retirement of Justices upon reaching the age of seventy.

    In a letter to the Liberian Senate, President Boakai described Justice Gbeisay as a “distinguished jurist [who] has demonstrated exemplary integrity, profound authorized acumen, and a steadfast dedication to upholding the rule of legislation and the Structure.”

    The President urged the Honorable Liberian Senate to “expeditiously contemplate and ensure this nomination.”

    If confirmed, Justice Gbeisay’s elevation to Chief Justice will mark a continuation of his longstanding service and dedication to the Liberian judiciary.

    President Boakai additionally used the event to name on all authorities officers to proceed demonstrating diligence, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in service to the nation.
