    Bong County: LDEA charges and sends two drug suspects to Court

    The Bong County Detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Company (LDEA) has formally charged and forwarded two drug suspects to the ninth Judicial Circuit Court docket in Gbarnga for prosecution, following their arrest in reference to the illegal possession of unlawful substances.

    The suspects, recognized as Zarwu Kennedy, 32, and Princess Varnah, 30, had been apprehended by LDEA officers across the St. John River in Kokoyah Statutory District #1, Bong County. Based on LDEA authorities, the suspects had been caught in possession of drugs believed to be Kush and Marijuana, each labeled as unlawful narcotics underneath Liberian legislation.

    Talking to native journalists, Deputy Commander Lewis N. Geelar of the Bong County LDEA Detachment confirmed the arrests and the next fees. He said that the operation was a part of the company’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the trafficking and distribution of narcotic medicine in rural elements of the county.

    “These people had been arrested after our intelligence staff acquired credible details about suspicious drug exercise close to the St. John River space,” Deputy Commander Geelar defined. “Upon confrontation, they had been present in possession of a considerable quantity of unlawful substances, together with Kush and Marijuana.”

    The suspects, throughout preliminary investigations, admitted to the crime, in line with the LDEA. The company has since accomplished its cost sheet and turned the case over to the courtroom for authorized proceedings.

    The arrest and prosecution of the suspects come at a time when the LDEA has heightened its enforcement efforts according to Liberia’s nationwide marketing campaign towards drug abuse and trafficking, particularly in anticipation of World Drug Day, which is noticed yearly on June 26.

    Native residents in Kokoyah have praised the company’s actions, calling for continued vigilance in rural and hard-to-reach areas, which they are saying have gotten hotspots for drug-related crimes.

    Because the case proceeds to courtroom, the LDEA is urging the general public to assist legislation enforcement by reporting any suspected drug exercise of their communities. The company reaffirmed its dedication to making sure a drug-free Bong County by way of a mix of legislation enforcement and public consciousness initiatives.
