The Trump administration is deploying the California Nationwide Guard in response to protests in Los Angeles that start Friday night over immigration enforcement operations which have resulted in some clashes between demonstrators and authorities, the White Home mentioned in a press release.
President Donald Trump signed a memorandum “deploying 2,000 Nationwide Guardsmen to deal with the lawlessness” in California as demonstrations opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations proceed within the state, White Home Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned in a press release Saturday night.
Earlier Saturday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom mentioned the federal authorities was shifting to “take over the California Nationwide Guard,” calling the transfer “purposefully inflammatory” and saying it should “solely escalate tensions.”
