Gbatala, Bong County, December 1, 2025: A Liberian-owned rice manufacturing firm based mostly in Gbatala, Bong County, has formally handed over greater than 800 baggage of regionally produced and processed rice to the Ministry of Agriculture, marking a big increase to the federal government’s drive towards meals self-sufficiency.
The rice was handed over to the Ministry by the Mates of Liberia Meals and Water Included. The consignment was produced from unprocessed paddy rice that had earlier been submitted to the corporate for milling and packaging.
Talking throughout the presentation ceremony over the weekend, the corporate’s Mission Supervisor, Rev. Adolphus Capehart, expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture for entrusting the corporate with such a serious manufacturing project.
He described the profitable processing and handover as “a milestone achievement and a testomony to the corporate’s rising capability.”
Rev. Capehart emphasised that the collaboration between the Ministry and Mates of Liberia Meals and Water Inc. demonstrates the potential of native business to contribute to nationwide meals safety meaningfully.
He urged Liberians to prioritize agriculture, significantly rice farming, stressing President Joseph Boakai’s name for residents to develop and devour regionally produced meals.
“Rice is Liberia’s staple, and we should take duty for producing what we eat,” he mentioned. “This partnership exhibits that once we help native initiatives, we strengthen our financial system and empower our farmers.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Monsio Wreh hailed the initiative as a transparent reflection of the federal government’s ARREST Agenda, which emphasizes agriculture, rural improvement, and financial self-reliance.
In line with Wreh, the profitable processing of such a big amount of rice demonstrates that Liberia is “taking one other significant step towards nationwide meals sufficiency and decreased dependence on imported rice.”
He applauded Mates of Liberia Meals and Water Inc. for its dedication to supporting authorities applications, whereas urging different personal sector actors to comply with swimsuit.
