    MONROVIA – The Nationwide Public Well being Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) and the Ministry of Protection (MoD), alongside the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to bolster collaboration in biomedical analysis, scientific coaching, and public well being emergency preparedness and response.

    Representing NPHIL, Director Common Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Protection for the long-standing cooperation that dates again to the previous Liberia Institute for Biomedical Analysis (LIBR), spanning the Ebola and COVID-19 outbreaks, and now culminating in an official settlement.

    “The MOU is a proper step to reinforce inter-agency collaboration for coordinated public well being supply, nationwide emergency preparedness and response, expanded diagnostic and laboratory help for illness surveillance, and strengthened biosecurity,” Dr. Nyan mentioned.

    Through the signing ceremony, Protection Minister Brigadier Common Geraldine Janet George (RTD) counseled NPHIL for initiating the settlement and reaffirmed the MoD’s dedication to efficient collaboration for nationwide growth.

    Highlighting the importance of the MOU, Dr. Nyan, a former Analysis Scientist with the U.S. Navy Medical Analysis Heart at Walter Reed, mentioned, “This isn’t simply an settlement—it’s a vital step towards enhancing public well being and strengthening nationwide safety towards potential biothreats.”

    Dr. Nyan additionally pledged that NPHIL, by way of its Nationwide Reference Laboratory, will proceed to interact in biomedical analysis collaboration with the AFL and guarantee capability constructing on the newly constructed Diagnostic Laboratory on the 14-Navy Hospital in Margibi County.

    The Ministry of Protection, along with the AFL, has been an lively participant within the Mpox Incidence Administration System and has supplied strategic steerage by way of Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Kowo.
