    Liberia: Information Minister Piah Assaults FrontPage Africa Reporter in Nimba — Seizes Gadgets, Deletes Photos

    SANNIQUELLIE, Nimba County – Data Minister Jeremiah M. Piah has been accused of assaulting FrontPage Africa’s Nimba County correspondent, D. Franklin Doloquee, throughout a press engagement at Superintendent Kou Meapeah Gono’s compound.

    The incident occurred on Saturday whereas Doloquee, together with different journalists, was interviewing Minister Piah. In the course of the interview, reporter Doloquee posed a query relating to the absence of Vice President Jeremiah Koung, who was anticipated to attend the ceremony however didn’t. The query reportedly angered the Minister.

    In line with the reporter himself, Minister Piah demanded that Doloquee delete images and movies recorded throughout the interview. The Minister might be heard in an audio recording demanding Doloquee to delete each picture and video he recorded. When the reporter refused, the Minister seized his cellphone, and personally deleted a number of images from the machine.

    As of the time this report was filed, the cellphone belonging to the FrontPage Africa reporter was nonetheless within the possession of Minister Piah.
