    Liberia Unveils US$900 Million Agriculture Program At Africa Food Systems Forum 2025

    Liberia’s Agriculture Minister Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah

    DAKAR, Senegal – Liberia has introduced a daring US$900 million Legacy Funding Program on the Africa Meals Programs Discussion board (AFS Discussion board) 2025 in Dakar, Senegal, demonstrating a renewed nationwide dedication to meals safety, rural prosperity, and inclusive financial progress.

    The Discussion board, scheduled from August 31 to September 5, 2025, is beneath the theme: “Africa’s Youth: Main Collaboration, Innovation, and Implementation of Agri-Meals Programs Transformation” and has attracted over 6,000 contributors from 113 international locations, together with policymakers, personal sector representatives, farmers, youth innovators, and improvement companions.

    Presenting Liberia’s Legacy Program, Agriculture Minister Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah described the initiative as a cornerstone of the nation’s agricultural transformation agenda, which he stated was cardinal to its push for meals self-sufficiency, improved diet, rural job creation, and poverty discount.

    “The Legacy Funding Program focuses on growing productiveness by offering the best inputs, infrastructure, expertise, and companies throughout agricultural worth chains,” he stated.

    The initiative facilities on rice, maize, espresso, cassava, and oil palm, with formidable manufacturing objectives aimed toward decreasing import reliance, growing exports, and creating employment alternatives.

    These embrace 50,000 hectares of rice to attain self-sufficiency, 20,000 hectares of maize for meals and livestock feed, and 15,000 hectares of espresso to revive export markets.

     Moreover, 20,000 hectares of cassava shall be cultivated to reinforce meals safety and agro-processing, and 18,000 hectares of oil palm shall be planted to spice up edible oil provide and international trade earnings.
