ADANSI AKROFUOM, Ghana – Ghana is mourning the deaths of two senior authorities officers and 6 others after a navy helicopter crashed within the Ashanti Area on Wednesday, August 6.
Protection Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Surroundings Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, 50, have been confirmed lifeless within the crash, which Chief of Employees Julius Debrah has known as a “nationwide tragedy.”
The incident occurred shortly after the Z-9 navy helicopter took off en path to Obuasi. It reportedly went off the radar minutes into the flight. Emergency groups are nonetheless on the crash web site as investigations proceed.
Pictures circulating on social media seem to indicate the charred wreckage of the plane.

Among the many different victims have been Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Appearing Deputy Nationwide Safety Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the Nationwide Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary Candidate, Squadron Chief Peter (surname not confirmed), Flying Officer Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
Flags throughout the nation have been ordered to fly at half-mast. President John Dramani Mahama, by his chief of employees, prolonged condolences to the households of the deceased and praised the servicemen who died within the line of obligation.
